  • What Are Gems?

Gems are offered by DIY to all DIYers on successfully completing different actions on the platform. You can use these Gems to get awesome goodies from DIY Shop.

  • How Can I Earn Gems? 

You can earn Gems through the following actions on DIY,

 
  • What’s the difference between Gems and XP?

XP are experience points that you get for completing a challenge associated with any Skill on DIY. In comparison, Gems are awarded on successful completion of actions like watching videos, sharing a post, or attending LIVE challenges. While XP would indicate your experience level with a skill, Gems are independent of skills and can be earned to get goodies from DIY Shop.

  • Where Can I See My Earned Gems? Do They Expire? 

Gems are stored on your DIY account under ‘My Gems’ on the ‘Profile’ section on DIY. Currently, you will be able to see your earned Gems only on iOS devices. Gems earned will remain valid for a period of one (1) year from the time they are earned, and can be used at any time during that period to get any items from the DIY Shop.

DIY in its sole discretion has the right to manage, modify, add, or deduct DIY Gems from your profile.

  • Where and How Can I Use My Gems?

You can use your Gems by browsing through our exclusively curated DIY Shop and choosing any item that you like. After using Gems to get any item from the Shop, you will receive a confirmation regarding the details of the product/item. You will also be able to view the updated balance of your Gems on your Profile. 

Please note, you can only get items from the Shop that are of lower or equal value to the total Gems in your DIY account. Items from the Shop cannot be exchanged with a different item, returned, or refunded.

DIY has the right to add, remove or modify the DIY Shop, or items/part (s) of items, or the item pricing without any prior intimation.  For detailed information on any item, check out the specific item page for terms and conditions.

  • Can I Use Gems To Buy Anything Else?

No. Gems are the exclusive property of DIY and do not have any cash value. They are not transferable, assignable, or redeemable for any monetary transaction. 

  • Why Have I Not Received My Items From DIY Shop Yet?

For Stickers and Avatars from the Shop, the selected item will be added in-app instantly and can be accessed for Posts and Profile Pictures respectively.

For items other than those listed above, you will receive an email from prod@diy.org within 24-72 hours on your email address registered with DIY. You will be able to download the item from the email attachment(s).

  • Why Were Gems Deducted From My Account?

If Gems were deduced from your account, here are a few pointers to check. 

  • For any post deleted by you, the total Gems value earned for that corresponding post will be deducted from your DIY account. 

  • For any post that is deleted/ghosted by DIY or for any other violation from your DIY account (as per community guidelines), Gems will be deducted from your account. The value of gem deduction is solely based on the severity of the violation.

  • I’m Facing Issues With My Gems and/or DIY Shop. What Do I Do?

No worries! All you have to do is drop in an email at help@diy.org and we’ll help you with all your concerns.
